I have just gotten sad news from Nina Miller that Danny Keith (70) died last week. No details but perhaps none are needed. 'Sure will miss his jokes and his smile. I'm sure you Royle school folks will be especially saddened.
Kudos everybody...nice game...that we just happen to win 5 to 4. Many thanks to cheerleaders, runners, ball chasers, picture takers as well as players. The 1970's put up a good fight with lots of great players and high spirit but...............hurray for '69! Pictures coming.
Can't wait to see everyone.......not long now....less than 2 weeks. If you are interested in having dinner in town, here is the info on the restaurant recommended.
It is called the Goose American Bistro, 972 Post Rd., Darien. Phone number is 203-656-2600. Open for dinner on Sat. from 5:00 - 11:00.
Cuisine is classified as Contemporary American and Contemporary French.

Congratulations boys! I've heard that you signed Mr. Lopriore out of Florida. I heard the roar of approval all the way up here. August 7th is going to be one happy day.
August 7th is just around the corner now. 'Not long before we're all together again to play, visit, catch up etc... We can't wait to see you. Wasn't last year the best!
Next Sat. (July 24th), Steve and I are going down to Stamford to give Pellicci's last minute instructions. Therefore, please let us know this week, if you're coming to Pellicci's at noon for lunch before the game. Even though this luncheon is a pay as you go, (we're not collecting $ in advance), we will be a large group and the restaurant needs to know how many to expect. So if you'd kindly let us know this week if you're planning to come to Pellicci's, we'll firm up lunch plans. Thanks. Patti and Steve
Their crust is nice and light and crispy. The pepperoni is sweet and thinly sliced. And you can have all the anchovies you want!
They even make a retro pizza which is the same receipe that they used for their first pizza back in the 40's I have to go wipe the drool off my face now.
Had lunch at Pellicci's yesterday with Steve and Patti. Pizzas are out of this world! I had a little trouble finding the place- the first time my GPS told me to pull over and ask for directions! Great to see the Craigs and super choice for a get-together.
It was great to see you too, John. I agree the food at Pellicci's is really good and they are wonderful to do business with. They are going to give us a set-up in the room with the waterfall and we can linger there as long as we like. So if it showers or is really hot, we can hang out there if we want to.
I think the easiest way to get to Pellicci's is to come in from north of town, down from the Merritt on Long Ridge Rd. So if you are coming in from north of town..................
Get on the Merritt in whatever way is easiest for you.
Leave the parkway at exit #34, Long Ridge Rd. Stay in the middle lane.
At the end of the exit ramp, turn left onto Long Ridge Rd. rt. # 104.
Stay in the right lane. Go thru' five lights.
At the sixth light (1 mile from the Merritt) turn right and then an immediate left onto Stillwater Ave.
Stay on Stillwater Ave., past Eden Farms, past the Municipal Golf Course (about 2 miles)
After the golf course, the road curves sharply to the left.
Following the curve, turn right at the light to stay on Stillwater.
In about 1/4 mile, look for the baseball/soccer fields on the left and bear left to follow Stillwater Ave. around the fields.
Pellicci's is about 1/2 mile on your right.
Parking is just beyond the restaurant on the right.

The Darien EMTs have contacted me and I will be 'on call' the afternoon of August 7th. I understand the this Lorraine B. bites, spits and scratches. Anyone know if she has had all her shots?
In case any of you were worried that that Wooly Bully, Lorraine B. might show up at the game and utter unkind words, please rest assured that Carol Ann Augustus Sommers has us covered. She has cast her famous safety spell, 'Pax Plurus, Exodus Lorrainus.
The Darien EMTs have been notified of this game. We will have an ambulance standing by the tennis courts... oxygen, nitroglycerin, and paddles... this is covering the class of '70. We know the class of '69 will be fine.
I'm getting the same buzz on Mr. Hepp. Excellent! Excelllent! There is our big first base man to catch a fast hard side arm. How're we doing for pitchers?

More very sad news, Chrissy Hornbeck passed away. I'm not sure of the exact date, but the memorial service was this past Saturday.

From: the Boss
'Ok Ok' we've got a buzz now on one heavy hitter. We need a pitcher with good inside control.
Get me Lynch and/or Bischof.
And we need a first base who can catch a fast low side arm.
Make it so!
What else is out there?

Re: Recruiting
Congratualations, boys. I understand that you've signed Bonfoey for August 7th and maybe "Skins" or "Bones' or somebody like that also....Good Work!
Now go get me Lynch, Tyler, Gatto and Bischof.
And get after that kid, Lopriore out of Jacksonville. He's been playing tootsie with us long enough. I want him!
Any other scouting buzz from vanden Heuvel?
